do not discount the projection, the romanticising of an object,
for it is not delusion if the person is aware of what he/she is doing.
and is in fact, a conscious decision to situate a thing of affection at a safe distance for loving, observing, feeling, vibrating..
is this not a smarter way of suspending attachment, or loving but yet not falling prey to the perils of it all? is this not more noble?
