it IS darkest before the dawn

they say it's darkest before the dawn.
is that the sentiment of an optimist or a pessimist?
it is both.
because you wouldn't notice the darkness if you weren't a creature of the nighttime, a bat surveying the world—upside down.
because the world can always be a bright place—for eternity, eternally.
but recognition of the good, and bright, and light after the dark makes you more of an optimist, surely.
the anticipation, patience and knowing that a better day will soon arrive, that glorious times will descend after an ordeal makes you not only an optimist, but a fighter and a believer.

it IS darkest before the dawn.
there IS light at the end of the tunnel.

clearly, I am an optimist.
