a midsummer day's dream

So last friday was assessment for the comm module and long story cut short, i was late and denied the chance to present and hand up my work. but fortunately, after waiting for 3 hours,i sneaked in during the break and managed to present. However, i am uncertain if they'll actually even grade me. so i m threading the tight rope now and keepin those fingers crossed.

this is the product i can proudly say i helmed for the group project..and i must say i m pretty pleased with the results..three takes, constantly changing ideas, group debates and some frustration and obstacles along the way finally culminated in this, which i titled:

//a midsummer day's dream//

and here's the accompanying text-
Summer marks the start of endless carefree days, where books and school take a backseat and sweet insouciance fills the air. Sun drenched picnics and lazy book reading sessions fill the day as best girlfriends indulge in idle chatter and merriment. The extensive lawn and secluded corners of the house lull the girls into their fantastical worlds where time is momentarily suspended. The surreal dreamlike quality of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland lends inspiration to this shoot as we borrow its absurdist takes on the polite tea parties, eccentric dons, and Alice’s childlike innocence- all in the luxury of your own home.

Sailor jackets, leopard print leggings, straw bowler hats, camel knits, highwaisted denim and crazy prints culminate in the celebration of girlish youth and exuberance. From the jester inspired ensemble to the forlorn looking prairie girl to the understated propriety of the librarian lady, we transform the girls into various characters. The home lends itself another meaning as we seek to discover it in a new light. So go on, play dress-up and invite your friends over- throw a tea party or simply basks in each other’s company. Escape the rigour and monotony of work and enter the realms of your imagination.

oh and may i add, i'd really like to thank the models- corinne & grace.
you two made a sweet team. even ginette said so. *winks*
