radioactivity is in the air for you and me
"Approximately 40 years ago, in the cold, clean recesses of one Kling Klang studio laboratory located in Düsseldorf, Germany, a collective that called itself Kraftwerk began churning out from an assortment of electronic equipment and their own secret inventions what they termed “machine music”, the likes of which had never been heard before.
Cold, precise, minimal, repetitive and almost wholly electronically-processed, this new brand of stiff was released on an unsuspecting public in the 70s, and pop music was never the same again…
Beginning as a duo in Germany’s late 60s experimental music scene and evolving into a notoriously reclusive synth-pop quartet in the mid 70s, Kraftwerk is today both an institution and an enigma. The group that once expressed an intention to “make music that sounded like Germany” has had its distinctive sound – drum machine beats, synths, vocodered vocals – copied and sampled by musicians such as David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, New Order, Art of Noise and Afrika Bambaataa across genres from techno and new wave to rock and hip-hop.
Strikingly antiseptic and yet strangely compelling, Kraftwerk’s spare melodies, precise programming and curiously facile lyrics (“Radioactivity is in the air for you and me”) reveal a deadpan humour and an appreciation of the absurd. Experienced live, a Kraftwerk show is a perfectly synchronised visual spectacle with four besuited guys (and their robot doubles) standing quite still behind consoles onstage, against a backdrop of perfectly synchronized visual projection, lights, robotics and pure theatre."
its gonna be epic.
i can hardly waitttttt.

Refresh: New Strategies in Indonesian contemporary art exhibition
A super cool exhibition situated at the Tanjong Pagar Distripark. Super obscure we almost gave up on looking for the place.
Sourcing and Outtakes from Issue#3-

First time ever on an actual photoshoot which spanned from 10am to 10pm; i was a total wreck by the time i got home.
Warning: mannequins are a bitch, never work with them.
and did i mention i destroyed the lip, while removing the 'makeup', of a 1000$ mannequin, such that a poor colleague of mine had to poster paint it white in the end.
I know, i know........
Okay, for all those who haven't already heard, KVLT is an online magazine that serves up all things creative and inspiring from the arts to music to design and fashion. It focuses on the local and regional arts scene.
I dont intend on sounding haughty but it will be best appreciated by the sound creative intellect. The articles do require some effort to plough through and if you love what you see and read, then KVLT is definitely for you.

take me to the riot
i m sorry but we just cant get enough of the above phrase can we, girls?
i haven't disappeared. Its just..its just that internship has been suckin the dear life outta me (i haven't read the papers in weeks???ha)- not in a bad sense actually. sometimes, it really feels good to know you have a thousand things to do so time kinda passes faster and you worry less about other minute and petty things because there are bigger things at hand? greater and more grandiose(okay i cant think of another word) matters to worry about? and furthermore, if these are things you are somewhat passionate about, i cant really complain about the fatigue can i? altho, one extremely nagging and pressing issue at hand would be the knowledge at the back of my head that, i have a gazillion projects undone for school and once internship ends, that it. ASSESSMENT.
make or break.
Bahhhhh with 100000 things to settle, tmr is never gonna end..... i just hope it goes well.
right now, i think i have close to 10,000$ worth of merch in my room and boy, does it feel a lil surreal.
700$ shoes do feel quite amazing i must say.

she

she values the nuances in life, the shades of meanings in things
she delights at the momentary and fleeting passing of beauty, but heaves at its short-lived nature
she says it boils down to instinct, something unquantifiable
she is a seeker, a thinker, a dreamer
she loves breakfast, tea, green pastures, nature, quaint dwellings and portraiture drawings
she is all about an image, the ghostly silhouette of a vision
she is a leader, not a follower
she lives for the passing display of poetry in motion,
the specks of dust suspended in sunlight,
the plastic bag dancing in the wind,
that perculiar slant of light.
that perculiar slant of light.
one day, we'll have the whole stinking world at our feet
one day, we shall be equals amongst the stars
Happy Birthday Huang Keli Corinne.

like the eye of a tornado
Like the eye of a tornado that knows no patience or clemancy, it consumes everything with an insatiable appetite and allows for not a single ounce of deliverance.
For now, school is consuming me.
I wouldn't say whole, but substially so.
Maybe i am just being dramatic and thinking too much. Maybe.
I can't wait for tomorrow to be over.
I feel stupid.
But yet- there never is without a 'but' in my dictionary, is there?
Yes, but yet, i feel some sort of unexplainable thrill creeping up, for reasons quite unknown.
Ever so often, i delight in the unknown- the prospect of knowing something potentially bad can happen but yet with some stroke of luck or sheer wit, the situation can head the other direction.
Ahh, to hell with all that.
To hell with the endless thoughts and thinking.
Right now, the only thing that should be occupying my little brain is tomorrow's major presentation.
Of which, i am still thinking hard and going in circles with.
Good luck i say.
" We aren't perfect, so nothing we ever build or do can be perfect. And thinking that we can is the most dangerous form of self-delusion."

Heart of Chambers
i should really be rushing my advertising assignmnts now, but this song is just too amazing not to share. no joke, i have been listening to it non-stop since yest i can even mouth the words to some parts now.. not to mention, it comes accompanied with this great vid i absolutely adoreeeee. Beach House, you've found yourself another fan:)
In your heart of chambers/ where you sit/ with your picture books and your ancient wit/ In that nook I found you/ so old and tired/ would you be the one to carry me?/ I'd like to be someone you could finally learn to love again

woody's barcelona
Vicky Christina Barcelona was just SUPERB on so many levels! Everything about it i loved.
And Penelope Cruz was ACE. Have never really noticed her acting or looks but she was just pretty damn amazing in it. Neurotic and a tad psycho but very endearing to me. Not to mention some of her expressions and gestures were just priceless. The dynamics of the constantly shifting relationship btw the characters was just really clever, engaging and hilarious at some point. This is yet another movie i can forsee the stills turning out as brilliant pictures on their own & i wd gladly watch this again!
