This has been bugging me for a while now and i suddenly have the urge to get it off my chest-
The emphasis placed on the need to reason everything, more particularly, with respect to art.
I m so sick of reasons, so sick of logic. Reasons are of course paramount to a whole lot of things, say 70 or 80% of the time? But what i cannot swallow is when lecturers ask us to explain every single tiny detail or motive behind our work. This may sound absurd as it is only deemed normal and right that they probe into our innerworkings. But what i cannot fathom is why it is unacceptable, atrocious even if we cannot produce a valid concrete reason with regards to art- Art is abstract, ideas come as swiftly as they go, moments of genius occur sporadically and our imagination is only as wondrous and unpredictable as the wind.
Hence, it is impossible that we validify or account for every line or choice of colour or composition we employ, which they often like to ask. For to do so would be to defeat the purpose of the art piece, which is to transcend what words cannot and hence should speak for itself.
This is not to say you can blindly produce crap work of course but to delve into the exacts and reasons behind every detail would be to kill the beauty in the process. No?
Afterall, grey areas are often where the magic happens.
Something else i have been thinking about-
So, say for instance someone gets a tattoo and so logically and naturally you'd ask why that design. And if that person just goes "oh, because i like it.", providing no real significant reason behind it, you'd just go "Right..." and think of that person as being somewhat superficial and getting it simply for the sake of getting it. But instead, i feel that not everything needs to be justified or accounted for. Its as simple as just liking the motif or image, none of that complicated history or heart wrenching background story as portrayed in those shows nowadays.
Okay, this may sound like i am defending myself if in future i do get one of those seemingly nonsensical things inked, but trust me, i really do feel this way.

Chrysanthemum Hours
" I belong to chrysanthemum hours, neatly lined up flowerpots. God made my soul to be a decorative object. I dont know what overly pompous & selective details define my temperament. If i love the ornamental, it must be because i sense something there that's identical to the substance of my soul."
-The Book of Disquiet
I am not sure if the above is true of me, i dont really think so, but i love the way its written.

the little i took

yeah i know i took very little this time around..
anyhow, the constant slew of entries clearly indicate my boredom..missed last night's party and today's yardsale:( Luckily, the long and engaging chat with my girls last night despite my inapt vocals did do some good. Always does good anyway:)
i need my health back. seriously.
5 things
So 5 things about myself since keli tagged me from http://thehipsterparade.blogspot.com/
Lets see..
1 I am a pro at suppressing my true self under certain circumstances, which i feel too embarrassed to mention. And this very weird trait of mine is, to me, my greatest downfall.
2 The prospect of living abroad has never really appealed all that much right until recently. I am thinking London..hee...
3 I thrive on imagination and make-believe. It can be quite overwhelming, it isnt very healthy.
4 I know i can be alot happier.
5 I am too adaptable towards different types of people and i am not at all proud of this. Not at all.

woozy boozy
I cant believe this, i have been sick for four days and counting. Not funny at all.
Worst thing is, i have been anticipating this very day for a while already. So when i was sick on tue, i thought i'd definitely be well by sat and when thursday came and nothing changed, i thought i'll just load up on the fluids, which i did. So when friday was here and things were still sluggish, i piled on the cold towel, popped the pills, downed whatever liquids there were and stayed in bed.
To no avail. I m sooooo disappointed..........
i am sure tonight would be so much fun and i really wanna be there..
okay there are about 5 hours for me to get better. work some magic pleeeasee.

bangkok aftermath
Hi i am back! actually i was back since tuesday morning but my ill body has kept me from doing anything cept sleeping and sleeping and more sleeping even when i cant sleep. So the bed has been my permanent home for three days straight. Well, the moment i got back, my body decided to bombard me the whole deal- fever, flu and sorethroat..it really sucks. I havent even talked to people and properly devoured my buys.
Anyways, the trip was pretty decent i must say, not exceedingly awesome but well, decent. At least bkk did not fail me. For one, shopping was mega awesome. So now i know people are not kidding when they say they buy something every 5mins. At certain points, it was somewhat like that:) I can never fully describe the euphoria when us three girls chanced upon the roadside vintage store at Kao San. It was racks and racks of vintage goodness. Think granny day's out but as a road side store and at a fraction of the price. Passerbys must have thought we were lunatics, grabbing anything that delighted and shouting across at the top of our voices. Ahh..damn fun it was. Lets see, and then there was Platinum and Chatuchak where i busted most of my allowance at. Platinum's like Fareast but 10 times better cos its massive and things are relatively cheap. Chatuchak we went for 2 days straight cos there was just too much ground to cover. Give us another 2 days and we still would'nt have been able to cover the sprawling place. Ahh..i am missing that place already......And to show you the extent of e damage done, i busted all 700 i brought, PLUS i had to withdraw cash along the way AND exchange sing dollar to pay for my excess baggage. haha i initially had 7kg worth of excess but after thorough packing and squeezing, it came up to about 3.hee.....but i was the only fool who exceeded:(
Okay so apart from the shopping, another plus was the dirt cheap drinks. Beer was plentiful and everywhere we went, cheaper than soft drinks even. So needless to say, drinks were a norm every single night, cept for one. And we could even afford opening a bottle at one of the pubs. haha! never in a hundred years would i open a bottle in sg...and it was so funny cos we were their first customers to actually open a bottle!hahaha!
Tempted to go? haha..i know for sure i'll be heading back.
okay back to reality, i am back and ill and that sucks. Well, pictures will be up once i am in the mood, tho i really did not take that many:(

limousine daydream
Phew...my com is finally back in proper working order! after several visits to the service centre and frantic phonecalls that is. for those of you who do not already know, i have zero affinity with technology and all that hinges on it so i ll be extra cautious this time around so no nasty viruses can come close.
on to other things, i haven't been doing much these couple of days leading up to the trip..
hitting couple of balls at the driving range, followed by a gym session the other day and tennis yesterday has taken a toll on my feeble body..so now it is aching from muscle to muscle, but i kinda enjoy the sensation cos at least i know for sure i worked out..or overworking in this case but who cares..
and come tomorrow morning i ll be in the land of smiles bright and early!(i m reaching bkk at 750am) exciting exciting...haha. mostly i am just really curious to see how good the shopping proves, since i have heard a whole lot about it..hopefully, i ll be lugging back bags full of goodies. u bet i am all prepared;)
hopefully it'll be a blast..
see you aligators!
