we are threading parallel paths

Lets see now.

# i have 2 new decays. Gross i know..such things only happen to me and it happens ALL THE TIME.

# on friday, we celebrated jeremy's 20th at partyworld. i have no pictures but it was pretty fun i guess, not as fun as the prev session at chinatown, but still fun i would say. They are all such good singers, not to mention dancer for one person-so just basking in it and laughing was nice enough.

# i was reading an interview with Pete Burns in ID and it left quite an impact on me. You realise no matter how different people look on the outside, and when i say different i mean transgenders or homosexuals or whatever other -sexuals there are, we are ultimately looking for the same things inside.

# i FINALLY laid hands on RUSSH! thanks to caroline who got the latest copy for me from aussie..she mentioned her friend's cousin is interning there. ahh i can only hope now.

# there are officially 3 weeks or so left of school? i feel as if i haven't done a thing since the semester started. reeeally.

# i have never felt i can be so at ease with a person, and that in itself calls for a celebration. However, if only that can be channelled with other more suitable people.HAA!

# i am getting very very very fat, you have no idea.

# i went from kino to borders and borders to kino yesterday in hope of finding some sort of answer/respite/consolation/reliance, but to no avail.

# we should go into business. yes keli, we must put serious thought into that.

# i need to be inspired so i can get started on some work.

#i am kinda obsessed w Axl Rose of Guns n Roses now. sheer indisputable hotness.
watch it and see if u feel the heat.

Le Voyage du Ballon Rouge

I really like Hou Hsiao Hsien. Okay partly because of the choice of actors used in his films (shuqi!) but more importantly, i once watched a snippet (unfortunately) of a documentary featuring him on cable and since then, he immediatly climbed the ranks on my respect-meter..ha i just coined that term..but yeah, so u bet i was elated when i realised he had a new film. Sadly, i doubt its gonna be shown here.

look at the stars, look how they shine foooo yuuuuuu

so the highlight the whole of last week was Mosaic of course..three acts in a week..power or what. kicked off with Broken Social Scene on sunday..it was an energetic lively affair despite the missing band members..great stage presence and crowd-working tactics there i must say

on wed, it was Bird and the Bee..which was a more intimate affair..some soulful pitch perfect vocals there.nice.

but what blew me away was this..the act i decided to catch last minute, a wise decision indeed.
with Mr Bai-toh-leh
i can only say they are true artisans, engineering music like none other and bringing electronica to a heightened level of tenderness. impactful and heart-stirring it was. i was wowed.& yesterday was truly memorable...started off w karaoke first thing in the morning
where adriel unleashed the voice within and boy, it was some voice.some massive voice coupled with over-the-top gestures and diva attitude..we were in fo a ride..

okay these pictures dont do no justice to the madness we had..entertainment at its finest i must say. chinese classics, the usual favourites, rocking numbers and of course head bobbing kitschy tunes that only mr bai toh can pull off-with great aplomb at that.
the fun didn't stop there, thankfully. we headed to town for food and erm more food and the night ended with us strolling back to school in the wee hours where, on the grass patch, remy, bai toh and i had a blast..reminiscing, laughing, talking and looking quite like fools...
and someone has the nastiest smelly feet ever that you can laugh even thinking about because it is "chou dao yi ge li pu". seriously.
& i can imagine he'd be saying "Bai toh lehhh" right about now.
on a serious note, i havent actually gotten back into school mode since the hols ended.i better soon.
okay, tomorrow. bye!

of dancing praying mantis

Its wondrous to be able to meet an old friend you havent seen in a while and hit it off like old times, only this time, you realise how much the person and, in the midst, yourself of course, have grown..so H and i havent seen each other for like a year? and obviously apart from the usuals, our conversation circled the same old topic i love to raise, something i never seem to get sick of- the topic of the R word of course..if you cant figure, too bad..and anw,to my delight and interest, she gushed about her chanced and charmed encounter with the supposed stud shes been eyeing on the floorball team..and just about when i heard this, you can imagine me shrieking, oohing and ahhing..haha.and by a stoke of luck, actually gets to know him- from absolute strangers to lovers..damnit..haa.her eyes twinkled as she spoke, as she went on about how she felt utterly lucky to have had this encounter as she radiated a bashful genuine sort of happiness that of course, made me shriek even more....to make it worse, for me but obviously better for her, she went on about how they'd complete each other's sentences and voice each other's thoughts..and how the similarity between them was uncanny..and how she is actually already thinkin of marriage and kids..okay that was like possibly dropping the bomb on me..seriously..but i cant help but feel happy for her of course:)

they say opposites attract, but i say not for me..and definitely not her.

we then spoke about how we changed over time and she quoted how people do not actually change but merely be more themselves..and that struck a deep chord with me..what a great way to put it!she added how she loves it the way certain people can liberate her in a depressing sort of way and those words left a trail of poignance in me..how romantic.geez...

okay i should probably snap out of my dreamscape right about now..

and on to other things, i m really glad to have discovered this band- MGMT and eversince, their songs have been the only songs looping back and forth on my ipod..i think their sound encapsulates pretty much what sort of music i like, something i found quite hard to actually define...its electro synth art rock that is spiked with plenty of grit and funk, and none of that traditional choruses..
"We redid a lot of our songs that sounded too polished," says Goldwasser. "Dave ended up running the tracks through this thing that crushed them and made them sound really gross again. They're a lot better now."
i realise i really like songs with no defined choruses, yeah.

anyways, this song got me hooked the minute i pressed play..not to mention, there are no songs of theirs i actually dislike..take a listen-

i love it. bye!
